Out Of Breath: Boracay, Philippines

Welcome to the seventeenth episode in the Out Of Breath series! This run in Boracay occurred on the 20th of April, 2018.

I procrastinated about this run for quite a while. It was hot, I was tired from traveling, I had a few too many beers the night before, it was the (our friends) wedding night, you know how it goes. Finally I mustered up the courage (even if I was a bit hungover from the previous night) , put on my gear and headed towards the beach.

Boracay is not exactly the place I'd choose for my vacation. Too many people. Especially around sunset time. Scratch that, especially every single time of the day there are people everywhere.

i wasn't the only one who was interested in doing something other than drinking, laying on the beach or shopping. It was nice to see some folks indulging in some physical activity.

In the last hour or so of sunlight, more and more people started walking along the beach. The boats started gathering their loads of tourists for the sunset cruise, and the sand sculptures spelling Boracay started being built.

While not shown here, I also wasn't the only one running. In between the thousands upon thousands of people lining the beaches, I encountered three other runners. We gave each other the "I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not but thank god I'm not the only one" nod. Except that one guy who was "running" but really just showing off his body.

I finally made my way down to the south part of the island where there are not as many people. Even with the people, there is no denying how gorgeous the sunset is on this island. Truly spectacular.
