Le Garifuna Settlement Day est un jour de fête nationale au Bélize, le 19 Novembre. On célèbre l'arrivée sur les côtes du Belize du peuple Garifuna en exil des îles grenadines. Tôt le matin se rejoue la scène de leurs ancêtres, sur des bateaux de fortunes les Garifunas accostent au Belize. S'en suit des célébrations interminables au son des tambours et chants locaux.
Une journée incroyable. Et forte en émotions. Et en bières locales!!
The Garifuna Settlement Day is a National Holiday in Belize. On the 19th of November. They celebrate the arrival of the Garifuna on the the coast of Belize (running from the Grenadine Islands and the British colony). Early morning is the re-enactment of the event, boats coming to shore asking for asylum. Followed by an endless party/celebration with singing and dancing all around town.
A day rich in emotions. And in local beers!!
